Responsible gambling

Bet with a plan, or not at all.

Backslate is a data tool. It shows prices, line movement, injuries, history and bet math. It doesn’t tell you what to bet, and nothing on Backslate is a reason to bet more.

If gambling has stopped being fun, help is free and confidential, 24/7.

Signs it’s time for a break

  • You bet more than you planned, or more often.
  • You chase losses, betting again to win back what you lost.
  • You borrow money, or use money meant for bills, to bet.
  • You hide how much you bet from the people close to you.
  • You feel restless or irritable when you try to cut back.

If any of these sound familiar, call 1-800-GAMBLER. You don’t have to wait for things to get worse.

Limits, time-outs and self-exclusion

  • In your sportsbook account. Most sportsbooks let you set deposit, wager and time limits, take a time-out, or self-exclude, from your account settings.
  • Across your state. Most states with legal sports betting run a voluntary self-exclusion program through their gaming regulator. Joining bars you from that state’s licensed sportsbooks for the period you choose; your state regulator’s website explains how to join.
  • On your devices. Gambling-blocking apps can stop betting sites and apps from opening on your phone and computer.

Data, not advice

Backslate provides data, not betting advice. It doesn’t pick bets, never places bets, and never connects to your sportsbook accounts. Prices, line movement and third-party projections can change or be wrong: check the sportsbook before you bet, and only bet what you can afford to lose.
